New ‘Doctor Who’ companion revealed!
Out with the Ponds, in with the new “Doctor Who” companion. Jenna-Louise Coleman has been confirmed as the next companion to ride shotgun in the TARDIS with the current Eleventh Doctor (Matt Smith). The official news released this morning reveals the 25-year-old Coleman will replace current companions Amy Pond (Karen Gillan) and Amy’s hubby Rory (Arthur Darvill) when the wedded sidekicks “bow out of the show in a heartbreaking departure after one final series of rollercoaster voyages later this year….”And from what executive producer Steven Moffat has to say about Coleman, it looks like we’re in for a whole new rollercoaster ride across time and space when she hops aboard the show.
“It’s not often the Doctor meets someone who can talk even faster than he does, but it’s about to happen,” Moffat says in the release. “Jenna is going to lead him his merriest dance yet. And that’s all you’re getting for now. Who she’s playing, how the Doctor meets her, and even where he finds her, are all part of one of the biggest mysteries the Time Lord ever encounters. Even by the Doctor’s standards, this isn’t your usual boy meets girl.”
Coleman is perhaps best known stateside — and that’s using the term very loosely — for her blink and you’ll miss it role in “Captain America: The First Avenger.” (She played Connie, one of the ladies in Steve Rogers and Bucky Barnes’ double date early in the film.) Coleman has also starred in “Emmerdale” as Jasmine Thomas and “Waterloo Road” as Lindsay James.
And so the Google image searches break the Internet. More to come, I’m sure.
